Our Story:
This project was created after I was informed that the second momma in our community (in just a few short months) was hospitalized postpartum because of complications that stemmed from not having the proper postpartum care at home. She, like the other momma, didn't have a support team at home to give her the care and rest she needed.
As a Postpartum Doula, myself, I have seen how big of a problem lack of help after birth can be. That is a huge reason that I certified in this area of care! However, not every mom has the means to fit a Postpartum Doula into her budget or she doesn't have the resources to even find one.
After seeing a need, I went to a Sister Doula and Friend, Lindsay Ransom, with my idea for this project and Mother to Mother Postpartum was born!
Our Mission:
This project provides basic postpartum supplies to low income mothers in our community. We are aiming to provide things like momma cloth, Tucks pads, sitz baths, and we hope to have a breast pump to borrow out!
It will also provide Postpartum Doula services to those who are in need (single moms, deployed hubby households, etc) before they have neglected their needs enough to get sick. As Postpartum Doulas we also have the knowledge to aid mom in creating a strong breastfeeding foundation.
Our 3rd mission is to provide postpartum depression resources to the entire community (not just those in the low income bracket) and give mothers a place to go to find the help and support she needs. We plan to have a page on our site dedicated to these resources and we will have sites, Facebook groups, and phone numbers to call.
How can you help??
We plan to have a few fundraisers to raise the money we need for PP supplies and PP Doula costs! We will be selling Momma Cloth, Birth worker supplies/birth worker swag, and other fun things! Stay tuned and buy for a good cause!
If you are a Postpartum Doula or other type of postpartum worker would like to help, please PM!! This is definitely a team effort and we would love to have you!
Last of all, if you would like to donate postpartum supplies, your time, or goods for our fundraisers please PM! We would love to talk to you about this!
